“Breaking in is easy. Breaking out takes time.”
An unhappy housewife is about to leave her husband when she disturbs a would-be burglar in her kitchen. What unfolds between housewife and burglar over the next hour reveals that neither are quite who they seem, and each may be able to show the other a way out.
This one-act comic-drama is directed by Ian Townsend, and features Natalie Husdan and Anthony Crank.
Tickets priced at £6/£5 can be purchased on the night.
Ian Wallis

Manchester photographer Ian Wallis has over 20 years experience in photography, building his portfolio and reputation along the way. Taurus is very proud to be showcasing his first displayed canvas collection. “These unique and exclusive works explore the city I grew up in. On rooftops high above the hustle and bustle and back down to earth, I try to find viewpoints to make people think differently about their city.”
The 20 x 30 inch canvasses are available to buy at £150 each. Please contact Ian direct or see his website where there are more images to buy.
Some of Ian’s other work include portraits, special occasions and school photography. Don’t hesitate to get in touch for a quote!

Stephen is working towards his 2012 Edinburgh show, 'Stephen Bailey in a Gay In The Life Of A Hetero' and has been researching hard, from spending a week as a plumber, to going to a strip joint, from learning morals at an old people's home, to kissing a girl. He's researched it all.
Improvising stand-up comic Luisa spent last year studying at Chicago's Second City. Since returning to London she has been rocking the comedy world with stories of love, life and Cher - improvising her way through many a Cher ballad. I was delighted to be invited back to Taurus to show some new photographs: I hope you like my selection.
I use a Pentax K100D Super digital SLR with just a couple of different lenses - a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle and the standard kit lens (I'm currently saving for a 50mm!) I'm always inspired by nature and - as a keen walker - find myself drawn to landscapes, but often prefer to focus on a detail rather than the wider view. Trees intrigue me - their individual and collective shapes are endlessly fascinating, particularly in winter.
All of the photographs are for sale - please contact suelangford65@hotmail.com
Tuesday 18th October doors 7.30pm

On the Tues 18th October at Taurus Bar we will launch Manchester Gay Village’s latest addition to the events calendar, The Village Folk Club. Our club will embrace the wide ranging elements of folk from singing and instrumentalists to storytelling and dancing, from the ultra-traditional and Country to nu-folk that has been ascending the charts of late. We are always looking for the best performances to bring to Manchester City Centre.
In October we will start off with Rae Spoon, a former country crooner whose latest album Love is a Hunter (Saved By Radio/Vinyl), is a pop-infused exploration of identity, contradiction and longing. http://www.raespoon.com/video/
Rae is joined by Lianne Hall who had the John Peel seal of approval when he described her as “one of the great English voices”. http://liannehall.bandcamp.com/
Lianne and Rae will be supported by resident artists Ruthie Boycott-Garnett and Esther Ferry-Kennington bringing songs and stories, Cello and even a bit of Hurdy-Gurdy. Ruthie is a well-known storyteller having initially gained renown at The Young Storyteller of the Year competition and Esther is a regular on the folk circuit and long-standing member of Manchester Lesbian & Gay chorus.
We hope you will join us in welcoming Rae and Lianne to Manchester and help us launch in style.

THIS IS THE SHOW OF THE YEAR...DO NOT MISS . First come, first served as we only hold 50 people.

My name is Wendy Norris I live in Warrington Cheshire. I have been a keen amateur photographer for many years. I enjoy capturing traditional images and exhibiting them using little or no editing. To me photography is a relaxing hobby and I hope to inspire people to use this skill in that way. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2005 so have found my hobby a focus which helps to keep me well.
I decided on “Random” for the title of this exhibition as I have such a vast collection of images, though I enjoy macro (close up) photography the most.
My plans for the future are to carry on having small exhibits and to use them as an opportunity to fund raise for various causes. A percentage of monies raised from the sales of my work at this exhibition will be donated to LGBT Warrington which is a newly formed group to support are local lgbt community and their families and friends.
Take a look at my website www.wendynphotography.co.uk. I hope you enjoy browsing my images.

Award Nominated Vertigo Theatre Productions present the UK premiere of the smash hit Off Broadway play Die, Mommie, Die! by American Superstar and Tony Nominated playwright Charles Busch.
Circa 1960s, Angela Arden, a fallen pop diva is trapped in a hateful marriage to film producer Sol Sussman. RICHARD Carpenter said of his late lamented singer sister Karen that her voice was unique which was why impressionists seldom tried to imitate her. But an exception to that in Manchester is Stephen Oliphant who sings The Carpenters greatest hits at Taurus Bar, Canal Street, Manchester, on Friday January 28, at 9pm.
Steve dresses, sings and moves like Karen on stage and his performance as Karen in a musical theatre production ‘Come Back to Blackpool Karen Carpenter’ at Buxton Festival recently was described by a reviewer as “spookily close.”
At Taurus Bar he will perform some of the biggest hits of The Carpenters including ‘Close To You’ ‘We’ve Only Just Begun,’ ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’ and ‘Mr Postman.’ It’s a must for Karen and Carpenters fans.
Steve, says: “I try and give the songs the emotional content Karen gave. It is a respectful impression and audience reaction so far has been extremely favourable.”

Written by Kim Wiltshire:
Following the death of ‘60’s bad boy of art, Kenny, his widow Corrinna has moved herself into the basement, alienating her children and ignoring the outside world.
She keeps seeing a man. He appears in her basement and says his name is David. He seems very familiar but her grasp on time and reality is slipping.
David is searching. He knows Corrinna’s basement holds the clue to his life, but he doesn’t know how or where.
As her down trodden son in law Stephen struggles to cope with keeping the family together, each of them tries to hold onto their own sense of self, of sanity, they come together and try to find what they have felt is missing from their lives

An Evening of Theatre
Thursday 22nd July, 6pm & 8pm
You have done nothing wrong. The police take you away and imprison you. They say you will get a fair trial, but the outcome has more to do with the skill of a lawyer than the facts of the case. The trial is a contest between barristers not a search for truth.
An untrained group of 12 people hold your life in their hands. They are supposed to take only the facts into account, but in truth, they are just as likely to be swayed by rhetoric and emotion.
This is not fiction. We call it Justice.
This beutiful little comedy demonstrates how simplicty in theatre can be used to great effect. Now almost lost in time, this play was originally performed by the historic Provincetown Players, New York City, in 1918.
The Provincetown Players was a group of writers and artists who, at the early part of the 20th Century, wanted to see a change in American theatre and created a company committed to producing new plays by exclusively American playwrights. Their efforts launched the careers of Eugene O'Neill and Susan Glaspell.
Floyd Dell was a best-selling author. He was a life-long poet and the author of a hit Broadway play, Little Accident (1928). His influence can be seen in the work of many 20th century American writers.

Vertigo Theatre Productions the creators of the hit plays 'M' & 'Rage' comes an original drama/comedy about living life and accepting change for a group of gay friends living in the heart of Manchester's gay village.
After the death of a friend, the close-knit group begin to feel the effects of his loss penetrate their lives as it leads them to question their loves, lifestyles and friendships. Throughout the next year the group will be faced with situations and complications none of them have had to deal with before, but as their lives change can this group who live for the weekends survive the new twists and turns which are coming their way.
Out! is a story about love, life, death and change told through the eyes of a group of people who thought they had it all figured out but never really did. It is a celebration of the bonds that friends form whilst enjoying being out.

Following the success of ‘The Benefit of Time & Seconds Out’ Northwest based Organised Chaos Productions present another piece of new writing – ‘Afternoon Tea’
What can go wrong over afternoon tea? Lots, actually!
William and Abigail are on a 'saucy' weekend away, where each others 'true colours' are appearing. Abigail is hoping for wedding bells, little does she know that it's the furthest thing from William's mind.
Whether they are discussing themselves, or most likely other people, Jean and Poppy love to gossip, put the world to rights and really just have a good old moan. While they are drinking and dunking their rich teas something sinister is happening in one of their homes and jean is about to find out who's been watching her... and it isn't the cat!
'Afternoon Tea' is written by Lindsay Kernahan

Marry Another, Katy Lied, Lisa-Marie Glover and Jinski

KATY LIED, a fantastic band who BOB HARRIS and Radio 2 playlisted and raved about.
Can it really be almost a year since the unforgettable hook and insistent jangle of Katy Lied's debut single "Late Arrival" became a feature of the BBC Radio 2 airwaves, propelling the album of the same name to national attention and garnering across the board praise from audiences and critics alike?
LISA MARIE GLOVER-Lisa Marie Glover - Tea in the Sky 4/5
Reviewed by Rick Underwood - Liverpool Echo
Wow! What a voice! Lisa-Marie is something special. Really special.
Her voice effortlessly swoops from the highest to the lowest, with the honey sweet tone and an emotional quality that gently draws you under her melodious spell.
Lisa-Marie Glover is simply spectacular. She should be the one people are compared to, but if we want comparisons, she sounds a little like Joni Mitchell, a little like KD Lang, and the complex clever harmonies remind me a little of The Roches.
She is folky, bluesy, and jazzy, but most of all, she is herself, and that is pretty marvellous!
You can't help but listen closely to the thoughtful, heartfelt words of her beautifully constructed songs on 'Tea in the Sky'. There's nothing safe or wishy washy in there. She tells it how it is, with a light touch that warms and cheers, as her lovely music enchants. Particularly good are 'Somewhere by the Sea' and 'Poor Baby.'
How fortunate we are to have her right here on our doorstep!
Do yourself a huge favour, and get out to her local gigs, before she is inevitably whisked away into her life as a global superstar!
Lisa-Marie Glover is pure gold, and 'Tea in the Sky' simply shines with her special brand of magic.
JINKSI-
Steve Jinski has dipped his toes into many musical pools including acoustic roots, folk, pop, country and all those bits that sound a bit like acoustic roots, folk, pop and country, but the fact that always remains the same is his uncanny knack of coming up with nailed-on, brilliant tunes.
His new album, Hurry Home, features ex-Prefab Sprout member, Wendy Smith, on backing vocals and consists of a collection of carefully crafted and beautifully sculptured songs which delve into the heartland of acoustic roots with themes inspired by the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
MARRY ANOTHER- Prestwich based band who have made an impressive debut recently."The bass is solid and the vocals are delivered well. Harmonies are great. Track has a good chorus and hook distinct from the verse and giving the melody a good sound"
