Dear Ian Scott,
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to EMERGE Recycling and the promotion
of the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - within your business. Over the course
of last year, January-December 2005, your company, Taurus helped to recycle
0.17 tonnes of paper, reducing the amount of materials and energy needlessly
consumed.
So what does that mean?
For every one tonne of paper, that's 50 of our bags collected from your
company, it helps save:
- 16 average size trees, which would have been used to make new
paper.
- 4100kwh of electricity. This is roughly the equivalent of leaving
a 100W light bulb on for over 4 1/2 years, or vacuuming non-stop
for over 9 months!
- 31,780 litres of water, which is 151 baths! Paper-making
is an incredibly water intensive process.
- Saves 3.01 m3 of landfill space. Landfill tax is increasing. The
less we use, the less we spend, and the less which will be diverted
to incinerators, not to mention the positive effect on our environment.
- 1725 litres of diesel, used just to process the trees and ship
the
paper to the customer. This could fuel a city bus for over
600 miles.
As you can see, your contribution has been invaluable and we at
EMERGE hope to continue assisting your company in making these crucial
efforts.
So thank you again from EMERGE Recycling.
Regards,
